The Best Carrier Oils for Diluting Essential Oils

coconutoil

Essential oils are one of the nature’s best creations for our general well-being. The benefits of essential oils are far and wide and one of the best go-to solutions for mothers who are faced with a different dilemma every day. However, essential oils are strong in their properties and they cannot be applied topically without being diluted in Carrier Oils. Carrier oils not only make essential oils more beneficial but act as a base to prevent any skin irritation.

Here are some of the carrier oils to use in your essential-oil infused lifestyle:

Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed oil is a naturally moisturizing and glossy oil with light and thin consistency.  It is good for massages and can be mixed with essential oils then used on skin.

Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter or theobroma oil also acts as great carrier oil with its sweet chocolate aroma. However, it has to be melted before mixing with any essential oil.

Sweet Almond Oil

This is one of the most commonly used carrier oils because of its inexpensiveness and light texture. Sweet almond works perfectly on even the most sensitive skins including that of babies and is enriched with Vitamin A, B and E. It is also used abundantly in spas and when mixed with essential oils, its advantages grow tenfold.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is known for its magical effects on the skin and because of the medicinal properties in it, is used for countless health benefits. It is perfect for use on a baby’s skin as well as on the skin of preteens going through hormonal changes.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is best used for pains in the joints and ears. Kids often suffer from severe ear pain in the middle of the night and nothing could be a better pain reliever than olive oil. It is high in protein, vitamins and minerals and versatile in its usage.

Be VERY careful with the use of essential oils on babies and never use it topically (on anyone) without diluting it with any of the above mentioned carrier oils.
