Essential oils are highly beneficial. Not just for health, but beauty, cleaning, etc. They have become very popular over the last several years! While people use these oils in a lot of ways to improve health and wellness, they have shown great results when used with Reflexology.

What Is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an old technique that dates back to ancient Egypt and has been used as an alternative way to cure certain health problems and to promote overall health. It involves applying pressure to certain areas of the human body, such as ears, shoulders, feet and hands, which are considered to correspond with different systems and organs in the human body.

According to various research studies funded by the National Institute of Health and the National Cancer Institute, reflexology may help reduce the psychological symptoms, pain, depression, anxiety, stress and even help in palliative care in people suffering from cancer by promoting relaxation and improving sleep quality.

Essential Oils & Reflexology

Experts suggest that essential oils work best when used in reflexology. Some of the essential oils that have been found to do wonders when used in reflexology include:

Ginger or Peppermint Oil For Digestive Issues

If you are suffering from gastrointestinal discomfort, constipation and indigestion, reflexology is going to work great for you. The ball of your foot is the area where all the reflexology points for the digestive system are located. Rub some of ginger or peppermint essential oil (diluted in a carrier oil) in a circular motion around the ball area and say goodbye to all your digestive issues.

Oregano Oil to Improve and Regulate Sleep

The Pineal gland plays a key role in regulating and maintaining the sleep and wakeup cycles, and oregano oil is great for this gland. Experts suggest using some (diluted) oregano essential oil on the bottom of the big toe before going to sleep.

Lavender essential oil also works great for improving sleeping patterns. Even just the scent can be calming and relaxing!
